At 44, Guru Nanak Dev University attains all-time-high NIRF ranking

Guru Nanak Dev University has entered into the club of top 50 national universities by securing the 44th position, its best ever, in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)-2022 rankings.
The rankings were released by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today. Compared to last year’s NIRF rankings, the Amritsar university jumped nine spots to bag the 14th position among the state-funded public universities in the country.
Central University of Punjab in Bathinda 26th in pharmacy category
The Central University of Punjab in Bathinda jumped three spots to secure the 81st rank this year. It has also set a new record by securing the 26th spot in the pharmacy category.
Chandigarh University best private varsity in Punjab
Chandigarh University has bagged the 29th spot in the NIRF-2022 rankings. It has been ranked first among the private universities of Punjab.
LPU climbs 15 spots, ranked 47th
Lovely Professional University has been ranked 47 among all govt and private universities in India. It has jumped 15 spots from last year’s rank.
IIT-Ropar 22nd among engineering institutes
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Ropar, has bagged the 22nd spot in the engineering category and 35th in the overall category in the NIRF-2022 rankings announced on Friday.
It is ranked higher than Jamia Hamdard University, University of Bombay, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Bangalore University, University of Kashmir and Tezpur University among others. It is the only public university of Punjab to attain the NIRF rankings in the band of one to 150.
Vice Chancellor Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu celebrated the feat with the faculty and members of the GNDU Employees’ Association.
Among the parameters chosen for evaluation (all out of 100), the Amritsar university got the best score of 78.53 in ‘Graduation Outcomes’.
This time, a total of 7,254 higher educational institutes participated against 6,272 last year. The rankings were announced in various categories, including overall, management, pharmacy and law among others.
