Kurukshetra, August 4
Days after Minister of State for Transport Aseem Goel suspended an executive engineer of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN), the All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) has sought the intervention of the Haryana CM in the matter.
UHBVN XEN Himanshu Panwar was suspended during the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee on Friday for allegedly misbehaving with a complainant. The association, in a letter to the Chief Minister, urged him to intervene in the matter. It was added that the suspension of an XEN based on “vague” allegations and without proper investigation was not right.
VK Gupta, a spokesperson for the AIPEF, said Goel’s action had caused widespread resentment among power engineers and employees of Haryana that was adversely affecting the working of the department. He added that in case the engineers did not get justice, the AIPEF would not remain silent and would be forced to give a call to power engineers of other states to support the cause of Haryana’s engineers.
Haryana Power Engineers Association’s (HPEA) general secretary Anil Nagar said a representation by the association had already been sent to the Chief Minister regarding the misbehaviour caused by respective ministers, MLAs and MPs in public meetings. Engineers had been harassed through political interference earlier as well.
“The HPEA condemns the act of the minister and has requested the CM to intervene in the matter promptly and uphold the matter to ensure delivery of justice to a power engineer,” Nagar said.
While suspending the engineer, Goel had said, “There were several complaints related to the Power Department but the official couldn’t give any satisfactory reply. His way of talking with the people was not appropriate. Misbehaviour with public and that too before the chair in the meeting was not acceptable.” — TNS
