India is being looked upon as a nation that can legitimately address issues confronting the world. We are no longer a nation with promise as it has been realised. We are a nation on the rise, and this rise is unstoppable, said Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar in his keynote address at the ISB Leadership Summit-2024, organised by the Indian School of Business here today.

He highlighted the transformation that India has undergone in the last decade, becoming a $4 trillion economy with 8% growth potential, expanding infrastructure with four new airports, one metro system built yearly, 500 million bank accounts in the shortest time and 6.5 billion digital transactions monthly.

Highlighting the country’s transformation from a foreign exchange reserve of $1 billion when he was elected to parliament in 1989 to crossing $700 billion last week, he called it "an accomplishment beyond a geometric leap" and a testament to India's exponential economic upsurge.

The Vice-President underscored India's rise in the world would mean global peace, global stability, and global harmony.

Stressing on leadership in India's century, he said the country needed next generation leaders who could drive innovation and change. He laid emphasis on creating leaders who find Indian solutions for Indian and global problems and creating partnerships to end challenges faced by the countrymen.

Dhankhar remarked that Indian talent was increasingly relevant globally and that Indian human resource was dominating global discourse.

Emphasising the importance of India's youth, Dhankar said, 'It is fuel to our growth engine destined to accomplish a developed nation by 2047. This rich human capital is the most significant stakeholder in governance and democracy."

In his opening remarks, Madan Pillutla, Dean, ISB, highlighted the importance of leadership in addressing global challenges.

Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, Bharti Enterprises Vice-Chairman Rakesh Bharti Mittal and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Mittal, who is also the chairman of Mohali Campus Advisory Board of ISB, emphasised the transformative role of technology in shaping India's future. He said India took the leadership in three key sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and space. "I firmly believe that technology is an area where India is going to play a significant role in the coming decades. The three key sectors are not just buzzwords, but are reshaping our world. I see no reason why developed nations will not partner with India on each of these fronts," he added.
