Aryan Majotra from Ludhiana won a gold medal in taekwondo discipline in the third state-level ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ being organised by the Punjab Sports Department under the aegis of the state government at the Nehru Stadium, Faridkot.

Aryan, a student of BTech (Agriculture) at the Punjab Agricultural University, clinched top honours in the men’s section in the plus 87kg weight category and made his parents and coaches Yadwinder Dandiwal and Surjeet Verma proud.

Over 300 participants from across the state are vying for top honours in different age and weight sections in these games. He overpowered his opponents from Amritsar and Patiala to lay his hands on the gold medal.

Earlier, Aryan made headlines when he secured a gold medal in the South Asian Hakuakai Karate Championship held in Meerut in 2022. He was also selected next year to represent the nation in the South Asian Hakuakai Karate Championship to be held in Japan, but he could join the contingent due to financial constraints and the school where he was studying did not issue a no-objection certificate.
