The students of Arya PG College won the overall trophy for the tenth time in the 45th inter-zonal youth festival of the Kurukshetra University held in the IB College here.

The participants of 70 colleges from four zones gave their presentations in 42 disciplines in the youth festival.

The Arya College Managing Committee on Saturday felicitated the winners.

Surender Shingla, president, College Management Committee, Kamal Kishore, general secretary, Piyush Arya, treasurer, senior member Virendra Shingla, and all the members and Principal Dr Jagdish Gupta congratulated the winning participants and the entire Arya College family.

President Shingla said that the credit goes to the hard work of the students as well as the efficient leadership of college professors and Principal Dr Gupta. He expressed confidence that students would perform even better while leading Kurukshetra University in the upcoming All India Inter University competition.

The 45th inter zonal youth festival was organised at IB PG College, Panipat, from November 12 to 14. Arya College won the overall trophy for the 10th time by securing the first prize in 16 disciplines, the second prize in 8 disciplines and the third prize in five disciplines.

He said Arya College had also won in Karnal zone for 19 consecutive times. Apart from winning the overall trophy in Ratnavali six times, it has also represented Kurukshetra University in All India Inter University competition and the country in the South Asian Inter University Youth Festival several times.

The Principal congratulated the college’s Director of Youth and Cultural Programmes Dr Ramniwas, in-charge Meenakshi Chaudhary, Dr Vijay Singh, Dr Neelu Khalsa, Prof Akram Khan, Diksha Nanda and all others on this achievement.

Dr Ramniwas said the North India Inter University Youth festival will be organised in January and the students would start preparing for the North East Inter University Youth Festival after their exams. He said 46 students from Kurukshetra University would participate in the North East Inter University Youth Festival, out of which 38 students were from Arya College.

The college team secured the first place in Mime, Haryanvi Orchestra, Group Dance General, Group Song Haryanvi, Group Song General, Classical Dance Solo, Song, Pop Song Haryanvi, One Act Play, Haryanvi Skit, Solo Dance Haryanvi Male, Light Vocal Indian, Mehndi, Sanskrit Declamation, Group Dance Haryanvi, and Western Instrumental Solo.

The team secured the second position in Rituals, Classical Instrumental Solo Non Publication, Folk Instrumental Solo, Poster Making, Rangoli, Rasiya Group Dance, On Spot Photography, Allocation. Third position was secured in Folk Song Haryanvi Solo, Folk Song General, Classical Vocal Solo, Western Vocal Solo, Indian Orchestra.
