Artistes’ performances light up Abohar’s Diwali
Artistes infused colour into the Diwali celebration held at decorated Rajyoga Bhawan of the Brahma Kumaris organisation.
The event kicked off with Rajyoga teacher Sunita discussing the history and significance of Diwali. Sister Pushplata, the centre in charge, performed the Aarti for Goddesses Lakshmi and Saraswati.
Mayor Vimal Thatai, with Pushplata, Dr Shivani, Darshana, Sunita and Shalu, participated in lighting traditional diyas and cutting the cake.
Sara and Samayra presented a captivating Ganesh Vandana, while mesmerising dances by Aishwarya, Mehak, Pihu, Bhoomi, Bhavya and Drishti — set to Hindi, Punjabi, and Gujarati songs related to the Diwali theme — earned enthusiastic applause from the audience.
During the event, Mayor Thatai voiced concerns about environmental pollution caused by farm fires and urged attendees to minimise the use of firecrackers, which contribute to noise and air pollution.
