Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, on Tuesday convened a meeting to review the preparations for OMR-based exam being conducted by J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) to fill constable posts in three categories.

The posts to be filled are Armed, IRP, Executive, SDRF falling under one category and Telecommunication and Photographer being the other two categories.

The meeting was attended by Chairperson JKSSB Indu Kanwal Chib and other officers concerned, while Deputy Commissioners along with SSPs of Jammu division districts participated through video conferencing.

The meeting discussed measures to be taken at different levels to ensure fair and smooth conduct of the exams.

Chairperson JKSSB informed that the board has initiated the process for conducting OMR-based examination for selection against constable posts in the Home Department. More than five lakh candidates from across J&K have applied and more than three lakh applicants are expected to appear in Jammu division.

The Divisional Commissioner directed DCs to identify centres keeping in view the huge number of applicants appearing in the exam.

The tentative exam dates have been fixed as December 1 for category one, December 8 for category 2 and December 22 for category three.

He stressed on putting in all possible measures for fool-proof security, maintenance of law and order, provision of logistic support for successful conduct of examinations.

The SSPs were directed to deploy an adequate number of men and women police personnel for frisking and other arrangements at each centre.

Ramesh Kumar also directed the DCs concerned to make available adequate arrangements of uninterrupted power supply, water supply and other amenities in the examination centres during the examinations and ensure that the candidates are not put to any discomfort.

Ramesh Kumar directed DCs to nominate observers/ magistrates for each centre.
