A Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) worker was killed by three armed assailants in Hansi town here on Wednesday, police said.
The deceased, Ravinder Saini, a motorcycle agency owner, was attacked by the assailants near his agency’s showroom, officials said.
Saini had also been provided police security recently and was an active worker of the JJP.
Following the incident, the local police have put up check posts around the district borders in an attempt to track down the accused, who fled from the spot.
Sources claimed he could have been targeted by criminals who demanded extortion money.
Three other traders of Hisar town had recently got threats from miscreants.
On June 24, three youth had fired about 30 bullets on the facade of a Mahindra showroom in Hisar auto market.
