Love sees no boundaries, and a man in China proved this. The man married his fiancé’s corpse during her funeral to fulfil her life-long wish of becoming a bride.
The 35-year-old groom—Xu Shinan—said his vows to Yang Liu's corpse in presence of his family.
Yangu Liu—who was in a relationship with Xu Shinan for 12 years—had succumbed to a long battle to breast cancer on October 14, reported the Daily Mail.
Yangu Liu was dressed in a white bridal gown. Her corpse was surrounded by 169 pink roses, the daily cited local reports.
A local newspaper—Dalian Evening News—reported that the couple were university classmates, who got in touch with each other via the internet. They fell in love by August 2007, and registered their marriage in August 2013.
However, things took a bad turn. Yangu Liu was diagnosed with breast cancer in March a year later. She went through surgery and several rounds of chemotherapy. Xu Shinan recalled that she was always smiling, even while documenting her treatment.
While Yangu Liu’s condition had improved, the disease made a comeback in 2017.
She slipped into a coma on October 6 and passed away a week later.
After Yangu Liu passed away, Xu Shinan learned from her online shopping cart that she was selecting a wedding gown before being hospitalised.
"All that I can do is to fulfill your wish and letting you wear a wedding dress fulfills my wish," Xu said during the funeral/wedding in front of family, before breaking down in tears, the report said further.
