While the administration has failed to provide any help to the rickshaw puller, Saleem, who was among the two persons shot dead by notorious criminal Mukhwinder Singh alias Mukha in the Putlighar area, shopkeepers of Putlighar Market have come forward to help his family.
Mukha had killed a youth and owner of a provisional store Ankush Sapra, who had tried to stop him in the Putlighar area on February 14. Mukha was running away after snatching 10 wads of Rs 10 notes. He also shot dead a rickshaw puller, who was trying to nab the culprits trying to flee from the spot.
Shopkeepers of the area collected Rs 1.26 lakh for providing monetary help to the aggrieved poor family. Saleem is survived by his wife and six children. Traders handed over a fixed deposit of Rs 70,000, besides a cheque of Rs 50,000 and Rs 6,800 cash to Saleem’s widow.
Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat said the administration would try to get him suitably awarded for his brave act and also provide monetary help to his family.
