The Doraha police are planning to act tough against sellers of plastic and Chinese strings in the town. They have decided to conduct regular raids to catch the sellers red-handed.

The police, under the command of Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya, DSP Rachpal Singh Dhindsa and SHO Hardeep Singh Cheema, on Saturday met shopkeepers and instructed them against selling Chinese strings. The police also made special announcements in the town, especially for parents.

DSP Dhindsa and SHO Cheema said, “We have decided to act tough against traders and conduct raids to check the sale of plastic and Chinese strings. No seller will be allowed to take law into his hands. They can’t be allowed to sell a product which may cost a person’s life. Sports are meant for enjoyment, not to injure people.”

“It is the duty of residents to inform us if they find any trader selling plastic or Chinese strings. We need their support,” they said.

The officers said they had made special teams which will move in civil dress to identify children using such strings. The parents needed to stop their children from using strings which could prove fatal for them, their neighbours and for birds, they added. “The raids by the police will definitely bear good results. The police should continue to use such pressure tactics on sellers,” said a Doraha resident.
