World T20: Cops Gagan Ajit, Rajpal on a new turf

After shining in the hockey field, former India hockey captains Gagan Ajit Singh and Rajpal Singh are in a new territory now.

The two Punjab Police officers are leading the force in making foolproof security arrangements for the World T20 matches at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.

Once the World T20 main draw matches begin, Superintendent of Police (City) Gagan Ajit and Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Rajpal Singh will be overseeing the security and traffic in and around the match venue. “Today, the field is different but the spirit is still the same. Once a sportsperson, always a sportsperson,” said Gagan Ajit Singh, while going to attend a meeting of top police officials in the stadium.

The duo has not only led the country in international competitions but also made the country proud with their achievements in their sport. 

Both the players were part of the national team (led by Gagan Ajit) that won the Junior Hockey World Cup in 2001. 

Once again the Arjuna awardees are joined by a same cause, and both are ready to give their best in their new avatar.

 “I am very fortunate to have my teammate (Rajpal) as my colleague here. We would try to give our best just like we did in 2001,” said Gagan Ajit.

Rajpal, who was at the Dussehra Ground in Phase 8, said, he was very happy to have a senior like Gagan Ajit. 

“We share a very good rapport. In the hockey field, our goal was same, here also, we have the same goal. We would try to inculcate sportsmanship and team spirit among our subordinates,” said .

Both joined Punjab Police as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and are presently posted in Mohali. Gagan Ajit joined the force in 2002 while Rajpal joined in December 2011.
