Dehradun, April 28

Welham Boys’ School clinched the trophy of the 29th All India Golden Jubilee Basketball Tournament defeating Woodstock School, Mussoorie, 70-44 in the final match played here today.

Vinay scored 20 points for Welham Boys’ School while Sharsha scored 12 points for Woodstock School.

Earlier in the first semifinal match, Welham Boys’ School beat The Asian School 72-56. In the second semifinal, Woodstock School defeated The Doon School 43-27.

Gunmeet Bindra, Principal of Welham Boys’ School gave away awards to the winners. Mahesh Kandpal, vice principal of Welham Boys’ School, Vinod Vacchani, secretary of the Uttarakhand Basketball Association and Vishni Painuli were present at the closing ceremony.

St Kabeer Academy beat Pestle Weed in cricket

St Kabeer Academy thrashed Pestle Weed College by 7 wickets in a match in the Colonel Sashi Memorial Cricket Tournament, played at Cambrian Hall School here on Tuesday.

Pestle Weed College team decided to bat first after winning the toss, but the decision went wrong for them as none of the batsmen was able to stay too long on the crease and the team got bowled out in just 59 runs. Dheeraj and Pritam of St. Kabeer Academy took four and three wickets, respectively, while Navdeep and Rishab took one wicket each.

While chasing the small total St. Kabeer also lost three early wickets, after which Himanshu hold one end and assured the victory of his team by scoring 21 runs. He was supported by Pritam, who scored 12 runs.

Summer Valley School win by one wicket

Summer Valley School beat Carman School by one wicket in a match during the 20th Gardner Premier League’ Inter-school Indoor Cricket Tournament here on Tuesday.

Carman School batted first and scored 21 runs in the first inning. In reply, Summer Valley School team scored 29 runs.

In another match in the girls’ section, Ann Mary School defeated Doon Public School by 5 wickets. Doon Public School made 26 runs in the first inning while Ann Mary School scored 30 runs.

In the second inning, Doon Public School made 20 runs and set the target of 16 runs, which was achieved by the Ann Mary School team after losing five wickets.
