City girls swim to victory

Ludhiana, June 20

Ludhiana girls performed exceptionally well in the 41st edition of the Junior Punjab Swimming Championship held from June 16 to 18 at the Sports Department Swimming Pool in Sangrur.

In group-II, Ludhiana contingent secured 20 medals and finished as runners-up. Bhavjot Kaur gave good account of herself clinching eight medals including two gold medals, four silver and two bronze medals.

Navika Sharma bagged six medals that included two gold, two silver and two bronze medals, while Akanksha Chadha chipped in with two medals (one silver medal and one bronze) and Tushali Lekhi also won one silver and one bronze medal.

Another swimmer form the city, Mahraab Kaur finished at the victory podium as she clinched two bronze medals.

Similarly, in group-I, Anmol Jindal of Ludhiana proved his class winning four gold medals in boys’ section and in the girls’ section, Pavit Sofat clinched two silver medals and Tamanna Jindal grabbed one silver medal.

Apinder Singh Grewal and Balraj Sharma, president and general secretary, respectively of the District Swimming Association, Ludhiana, appreciated the swimmers’ achievement. They congratulated them and their coach and manager Ajay Sharma.
