Chief Minister Harish Rawat today inaugurated a Tourist Sailing (Boating) Jetty at Nainital Yacht Club and a rickshaw stand, constructed at a cost of Rs 3.50 lakh. The project aims to promote tourism in Nainital.

The Chief Minister said activities such as sailing jetty and sailing regatta would help in promoting tourism activities. He called for promotion of water sports and frequent sailing events in order to ensure that youths of the state become proficient in sailing and get medals at the national and international sports events.

The Chief Minister said the National Games 2018 would be held in Uttarakhand and efforts would be made to include sailing regatta in it. He also took the opportunity to inform people that the state government had ensured safe pilgrimage for 10 lakh pilgrims of the Char Dhams, two crore Kanwarias during the Kanwar yatra and 5,000 devotees of the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra in the state.

Sports Minister Dinesh Agarwal said international-level cricket stadiums were being constructed in Haldwani and Dehradun. The government was making all necessary preparations for the 2018 National Games.
