It pays to be Sachin Tendulkar’s biggest fan. Sudhir Kumar Chaudhary, who’s seen waving the Indian flag in almost every match India play, will be seen doing his thing at the Champions Trophy as well, thanks to Tendulkar.

Chaudhary had been making all out efforts for the last couple of months to get someone sponsor his trip to England without success. Finally, he approached Tendulkar for help and the latter immediately wrote a letter to a Mumbai-based FM radio station, requesting it to sponsor Chaudhary’s trip. In return, Tendulkar promised the radio station an exclusive interview on Champions Trophy and his biopic Sachin: A Billion Dreams.

“It’s unfortunate that someone from a modest background, who is supporting Indian cricket without any help from the players, has to face such hardships to follow his passion. I hope at my behest you will extend your cooperation to Sudhir Kumar as required by him,” Tendulkar wrote. The radio station agreed immediately to bear the entire expenses of the trip. It has been learnt that the radio station had sponsored Chaudhary’s visit to Australia and New Zealand for the 2015 World Cup too.

Chaudhary said Tendulkar would write a letter to the British High Commission, too, for an early processing of his visa. Chaudhary is expected to reach England ahead of India’s high-profile clash against archrivals Pakistan on June 4 in Birmingham.

“I will always remain indebted to Sachin sir. He’s god to me,” said Chaudhary. “When someone is in trouble, he approaches his god and I did the same. He listened to my request and I’ll be flying to the UK. Just one letter from him and the radio station agreed to fund my whole trip. He has provided me another opportunity to live my dream.”
