Punjab Police continue to struggle to arrest gangster Dilpreet Singh “Baba”—who recently threatened to a Punjabi singer—two years after he escaped from their custody.
Singh, a resident of Dhahan village who threatened Punjabi singer Parmish Verma through a Facebook post on Friday, escaped while he was being taken to jail from Ropar court in May 2016.
Punjab Police’s attempts at convincing Singh to turn himself in after the January encounter killings of gangsters Vicky Gounder and Prema Lahoria—with whom he was believed to have links—have failed to yield results.
Ropar Superintendent of Police Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu is believed to have met Singh’s family at least twice since December. The family however claims that Singh hasn’t been in touch with them.
Singh faces several grave criminal charges, including many counts of murder and dacoity. He has been accused of having killed a resident of Nurpur Bedi on April 7, 2017, and the sarpanch of Hoshiarpur two days later, on April 9.
