MLA Verka is warehousing corpn chief

Ahead of the Lok Sabha poll, Amritsar West MLA Raj Kumar Verka was today appointed the chairman of Punjab Warehousing Corporation — a post not accepted by Navjot Kaur Sidhu last year.

Verka’s appointment was cleared by Capt Amarinder Singh after Congress president Rahul Gandhi reportedly recommended his name to the him at the Moga rally. This has put to rest the speculation of appointing Verka the president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
