Days after the Government Railway Police (GRP) pasted “wanted” posters of Zakir Musa — the chief of Jammu and Kashmir-based Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind terror outfit, with reported links with the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) — at the railway station here, the GRP and the Punjab Police on Saturday launched a joint search operation.

DSP Rahul Bhardwaj and GRP SHO Kashmir Singh led the teams in frisking commuters and sensitising them about suspicious goods being carried in trains. The team also checked parcels that were transported by passenger trains and awaiting their owners. The goods booking and delivery staff was directed to preserve copies of all documents produced by consignees and consigners.

Bhardwaj said local heads of all complexes used for spiritual congregation, gyms and PGs have been told to install high power CCTV cameras supported by 24x7 power supply system. Owners of PGs and gyms were also told to keep a photo ID of each customer and strict action would be taken if any violation is detected in checking.
