A video clip of Congress MP Mohammed Sadiq dismissing the demand of youth for jobs by claiming that the government did not even have funds to pay salaries has gone viral.
The Faridkot MP made this remark while responding to the demand of youth during campaigning at Simrewala village in the Jalalabad segment on Sunday.
When the youth reminded the MP of the party’s promise to provide jobs, Sadiq replied, "What to talk of jobs, the government did not even have funds to pay salaries."
Claiming that “tali te saron kade nahi jamdi” (Rome was not built in a day), he alleged that SAD leader and former Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal had returned Rs 34,000 crore lying with the state exchequer to the Centre at the time of Congress government formation in the state. When the altercation took a serious turn, Sadiq left the site.
When contacted, Saddiq said all promises would be fulfilled one by one. “The government has waived loans of almost all farmers. Besides this, the government has created 8-10 lakh jobs for youth in the private sector,” he said, adding that government jobs would be offered to youth on merit basis.
