Fazilka mourns doctor’s death

Fazilka, March 19

A pall of gloom descended on the border town when the body of Dr Yashpreet Singh Kathpal, who was killed in a road accident on the Yamuna Expressway near Mathura on Sunday, reached Fazilka on Monday. Thousands of people, including Fazilka MLA Davinder Singh Ghubaya, former BJP minister Surjit Kumar Jyani and former Congress MLA Dr Mohinder Kumar Rinwa, bid adieu to Kathpal in the cremation ground here.

Dr Yashpreet (25) was killed along with two doctors of AIIMS when the SUV they were travelling in rammed into a canter near Mathura. Dr Kathpal did MBBS from Rajindra College, Patiala, and was pursuing postgraduation in surgery at AIIMS. He was awarded scholarship in both courses. — OC
