Amritsar, October 15
Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh on Monday countered the alleged negative propaganda being spread on social media about the 210-year-old doors of Darshani Deori leading to the Sanctum Sanctorum of the Golden Temple.
On October 6, new doors were installed to replace the historic doors pertaining to the Maharja Ranjit Singh era. Since the doors were beyond repair and restoration, the SGPC got these replaced.
It was alleged in social media that these doors, originally belonged to the Somnath temple, had now been returned.
Giani Gurbachan Singh said the reports were misleading as the original doors had been kept in the parikrama of the Golden Temple complex.
“The devotees can have a glimpse of these doors. I appeal to the rumour-mongers to refrain from creating confusion among the devotees,” he said.

The personal assistant of Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, who also happens to be his close relative, Satinderpal Singh, said the Jathedar had no intention to quit. “There is no such move. It is true that he is not keeping good health, but a section of media is speculating about his resignation, which is wrong,” he said.
