Hoshiarpur, July 4

The District Education Officer (Elementary) Balbir Singh on Tuesday checked schools with his team.

He directed the school heads to rectify certain shortcomings besides issuing show cause notices to teachers for negligence. Any laxity would not be tolerated, he warned.

Government Elementary School in Bagwai, Tuto Majara, Chak Fulu, Dhamai, Samundra and Government Middle School, Samundra, were visited by he team.

Deputy District Education Officer Dheeraj Vashisht said that besides the attendance of teachers and students, the cleanliness of the schools was checked. Records of mid-day meal were also checked. The DEO himself had the mid- day meals cooked for the children to check the quality of the food being served, he added.
