Cop among 4 killed in Tarn Taran road mishap

Tarn Taran, August 1
An ASI was among four persons killed in a head-on collision between two private buses near Sarhali village today. In all, 19 persons were injured.
The deceased have been identified as ASI Rachhpal Singh of Tarn Taran, Jagjit Singh of Bathinda, Jagdeep Singh of Faridkot and Rama of Zira. Jagjit died on the spot, while others succumbed to injuries in hospital.
The buses belonged to Libra and Raj companies. The Libra bus was going to Tarn Taran from Harike when the accident took place.
Sarhali police station SHO Tarsem Masih said a case under Sections 304-A, 279, 337, 338 and 427 of the IPC had been registered against the Raj bus driver. He fled the spot after the accident.
Residents of nearby villages admitted the injured to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Sarhali. As the CHC was not equipped to handle a rush of patients, some of them were referred to other hospitals.
Deputy Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal and SSP Darshan Singh Mann visited the accident spot.
Himachal ASI dies in accident
Bathinda: An ASI with the Himachal Pradesh Police was killed when a car in which he was travelling hit a tree near the district’s Fatehgarh Naun Abad village on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Yogesh Kumar. Constables Parveen Kumar and Anuradha, who were travelling with Yogesh, were injured. Parveen said the three of them had gone to Rajasthan related to the investigation of a case. On their way back, to avoid collision with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction, the car made a swerve and hit a tree. The ASI died on the spot. Investigating officer Gurmej Singh said a case had been registered against an unidentified person. TNS
2 die in car crash near Jalalabad
Fazilka: A child was killed after a Fortuner car hit a bicycle near Jalalabad on Monday night. Sources said the car hit Kishore Singh and his son Lakhwinder Singh (8), who were on a bicycle. Lakhwinder succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital. Kishore was injured. Car driver Darshan Singh (50) reportedly fled. A few kms down the road, his car went out of control near a police post and hit a tree, resulting in Darshan’s death. OC
