Under special scheme of the Punjab Government to celebrate 550th Parkash Purb, 14 villages of the district will witness much needed development. The government will spend Rs 1 crore on each village to provide basic amenities to area residents.
The villages, which have been included in the special scheme, are Kamalpur, Akoi Sahib, Mangwal, Bahadurpur, Kanjhla, Gehla, Bhalwan, Bhadawad, Kheri Jattan, Dhadogal, Bhasaur, Ghanaur Jattan, Khurana and Matuana Sahib.
“The villages will get all required facilities and the works will be completed before November 15. All developmental plans of villages have been prepared with the feedback of villagers,” said Vijay Inder Singla, Cabinet Minister and Sangrur MLA. New parks, rooms for gyms and roads are being constructed. The construction of angarwari centres and cleaning of ponds is also going on.
“Each and every work is being monitored by a special committee of experts as we want to utilise each penny with full transparency. But still if there is any problem, residents should take up the matter with the authorities concerned,” said Singla.
Sangrur Deputy Commissioner Ghanshayam Thori said since funds were being released as per the requirement of departments, they were hopeful that works would be completed as per deadline.
