ONGC men basketball champs; Doon win in women’s category

The ongoing 5th Uttarakhand State Basketball Championship for Men and Women concluded here today. ONGC and Dehradun won the titles in men and women sections. In the final match of the women’s section, Dehradun beat Nainital 44-12.

The highest scorer from Dehradun was Rhea with 15 points and the highest scorer from Nainital was Preeti with four points. In the final match inmen’s section, ONGC beat Hardwar district by 70-40 points.

The highest scorer from ONGC was Trideep with 14 points and the highest scorer from Haridwar district was Amandeep with 16 points.

District table tennis teams selected

The district-level teams of boys and girls for the Stag Hemlata Kohli Memorial State Table Tennis Championship were selected here on Tuesday. The team members were selected through trials held at Summer Valley School.

Girish Madhwal, Joint Secretary of Uttarakhand Table Tennis Association, said the championship would be played from December 12 at Summer Valley School.

Akash Gupta, Suaj Rana, Rakesh Kumar and Sahil Jolly are part of the boy’s team. Vinita Negi, Tina Rawat, Sunita Chhimwal and Vanshika Saxena are in the girls team.

Taekwondo training camp

A special taekwondo training camp is being organised by the Uttarakhand Sports Taekwondo Association for the forthcoming 4th International Taekwondo Championship (December 20 and 21) at Pestleweed College here. President of the association and senior Congress leader Suryakant Dhasmana inaugurated the camp on Tuesday. It would conclude on December 18.
