Tirupati: The Sri Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala here owns 9,259 kg of gold deposited with various banks and in its treasury, a senior temple official said on Monday. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which manages the affairs of the country’s richest temple, has 5,387 kg of gold with the State Bank of India and 1,938 kg of gold with the Indian Overseas Bank under gold deposit schemes. Call to remove ‘virginity test’ from MBBS 

Nagpur: An expert panel of the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has unanimously proposed to remove the contents of “virginity test” from the curriculum of forensic medicine of MBBS course. The paraclinical expert academic board of Nashik-based MUHS took the decision following a plea by Dr Indrajit Khandekar, professor, forensic medicine, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences Sewagram, who said “virginity test” had no scientific basis. Guj zoos to get zebras in exchange of lions

Ahmedabad: Two major zoos in Gujarat will get zebras, Himalayan bear and some exotic wild birds from Punjab and Maharashtra in exchange for six lions. The animals and birds will be transferred to Gujarat under an animal exchange programme with Punjab and Maharashtra, said an official release here on Wednesday. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, during a Cabinet meet on Wednesday, gave his approval to this exchange with zoos of Punjab and Maharashtra. PTI
