Actress-politician Roopa Ganguly was nominated to the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Ganguly — whose rose to fame with her portrayal as Draupadi in the hit television series ‘Mahabharat’ — was nominated to the seat that cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu had vacated when he resigned.

The 49-year-old had unsuccessfully contested the West Bengal Assembly elections earlier this year as a BJP candidate. She joined the party in 2015.
Sidhu resigned from the Rajya Sabha in July —three months after he was nominated — citing differences with the BJP. — PTI
