Additional Commissioner of Central Narcotic Bureau arrested on bribe charges

In one of the major raids in recent years by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), the Additional Commissioner of Central Narcotic Bureau (NCB) Dr Sahiram Meena, posted in Kota, was on Sunday arrested for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from an opium grower for appointing him as ‘Lambardar’ in Chittorgarh region .
Meena, an IRS officer of 1997 batch, had demanded Rs 5 lakh from Kamlesh Dhakar for appointing him as the Lambardar in the region but the deal was finalised for Rs 1 lakh, the Additional SP, ACB, Kota, Thakur Chandrasheel told The Tribune.
The notes which he received as bribe were also recovered, Thakur added.
Kamlesh was also arrested, and the both will be produced before the ACB court on Monday for seeking police remand, Thakur said.
In state-wide raids by ACB, a sum of Rs 2.35 crore, assets worth Rs 100 crore and documents of 82 plots, 25 shops, petrol pump, marriage garden, and plots in Mumbai were seized, the Additional SP said.
Meena hails from Gangapur city in Sawaimadhopur district and his bribe net work is being probed, the ASP added.
