Man held for thrashing woman, daughter

The Rajouri police, under the supervision of Yougal Manhas, SSP, have apprehended the person involved in the alleged thrashing of a mother and daughter on June 13. The accused was arrested from Kathua district within 24 hours.
On June 19, the video of the incident went viral on the social media after which tension gripped the town as the women belong to the majority community while the accused is from the minority community. The police had registered a case under Sections 452, 354, 325,323 and 34 of the RPC against the accused, namely Pawan Kumar, alias Pamma.
The SSP said after a tip-off about the presence of Pamma at a hideout in the Mohreen tehsilof Kathua district, a police team headed by Danish Maqbool, in charge, Rajouri police post, was rushed to Kathua on Wednesday.
“The Rajouri police with the help of Kathua police raided the hideout on the intervening night of June 20 and 21 and apprehended the accused who was planning to escape to Punjab,” the SSP said. The accused was produced in the court and has been remanded in police custody for further questioning. — OC
