Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Senior Secondary School, Shimlapuri, secured seven out of 10 top positions in the state.
In academics, Pooja Joshi from arts bagged the first position, while Vivek Rajput from non-medical stream bagged the second position in Punjab.
Director S Gurbachan Singh Grewal said: “We are overjoyed over our students’ achievement. The highest numbers of achievers are from our school. We have highly qualified staff and we try to keep our faculty and students motivated.”
The atmosphere of the school echoed with dhol beats as students and family members displayed euphoria over the PSEB senior secondary results.
Principal Harjeet Kaur said: “In our school, as many as 33 per cent students are studying on concession. We provide books and uniforms to the needy students for free. They come from labour class families that are financially crippled. The atmosphere of their home is not study friendly. Hence, we make them sit overtime after school to ensure that they do well in studies.”
On being asked the difference between government schools and their school, Kaur said: “The only difference is that we have adopted these children. We treat them as our own children that government school faculty does not do. To make students successful, you have to take their responsibility.”
