Thieves continue to challenge policing in the city. The police are clueless about most incidents reported here recently.
The Dugri police have registered a case in which thieves decamped with goods and cash from a house. The complainant, Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Nirmal Nagar, Dugri, told the police that thieves broke into his house on the night of June 7.
"All members of the family were sleeping when the thieves entered the house by scaling the wall. They decamped with one laptop, one gold chain, Rs 15,000 in cash, three mobile phones and other valuables. When we woke up in the morning, we found the entire house ransacked. The thieves broke open the almirah kept in rooms. I suspect they had sprayed some sedative on all members of my family due to which we could not notice any activity in the house during the night," said Sukhwinder.
Sukhwinder said the thieves also struck at the houses of his neighbours, namely Ramanjit and Paramjit Singh, the same night. They stole five mobile phones from their houses.
The thieves were reportedly captured on CCTV cameras.
In the second incident, thieves struck at a godown in Alamgir and decamped with a huge stock of pesticides. The complainant, Ankit Goyal, a resident of Shashtri Nagar, told the police that a huge stock of pesticides was kept at the godown of Iffco MC Crop Science Company. On June 5, he locked the godown properly around 10.30 pm. "On June 6, when I came to the godown, I found the main locks broken and a huge stock of pesticides missing," he said.
