A team of the Local Bodies Department from Chandigarh today visited the Grand Walk mall here to take "measurements" of the building. Though officials of the building branch of Municipal Corporation here expressed unawareness about any such visit, sources said the team was specially sent from Chandigarh for the purpose.
One of the officials said: "Hearing in the case related to the mall falls on September 6 and a few formalities had to be completed. The team was sent here to take measurements".
The Grand Walk mall's owner, Gurdeep Jujhar, is close to the Badals. It is alleged that undue favours were did to him by the previous government. It is also alleged that he had encroached on 3,000 square yard of a green belt of the MC. The top floor of the building was allegedly constructed in an illegal manner. The MC staff did not pay much attention towards taking stern action against anomalies at the mall, it was learnt.
