Sports activities held under Tandrust Punjab Mission
Ludhiana, July 28
Players (boys and girls) of Ludhiana district continued to take part in sports activities being conducted by the local office of the Punjab Sports Department. They get themselves updated with the latest techniques during the sports activities.
These activities are being held in various sports disciplines at the main venue Guru Nanak Stadium, besides sub-centers, including GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sudhar; Dashmesh Coaching Centre, Raikot; Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy, Jarkhar; Naresh Chander Stadium of AS Senior Secondary School, Khanna.
Competitions in athletics, judo, gymnastics, volleyball, lawn tennis, softball, handball, hockey, basketball, weightlifting, wrestling, archery, table tennis and other games are organised for the benefit of players during this programme. The programme was aimed at encouraging youth towards sports.
Ravinder Singh, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana, said yoga session was conducted on Saturday at the multipurpose indoor hall of Guru Nanak Stadium. Players and coaches attended the session during which they were told about the importance of yoga and how it could be used to improve one’s performance.
Besides, hockey match for boys U-17 was organised at Bhaini Sahib in which two teams, Bhaini Sahib ‘A’ and Bhaini Sahib ‘B’, competed, with the former emerging victorious 4-3. — OC
