Interactive session
Ludhiana: Students of Classes IX and XII of Drishti Dr RC Jain Innovative Public School had an interactive session with Dr AK Sharma, former Director of the NCERT, and Dr Rajaram S Sharma, Joint Director, CIET- NCERT. Rajaram emphasised on the perseverance, creative thinking, observation and critical analysis by listing examples from nature. He also taught the art to satiate inquisitive minds and how look for answers.
Skaters shine
Students of Sant Isher Singh Ji Maharaja Public School, Karamsar (Rara Sahib), has come up with flying colors in the All India Roller Skating Championship 2017 which was held at the Panjab University campus recently. Twenty-two students of the school took part in the events — 300-metre race time trial and 500-metre race time trial. Ranbir Singh Johal, Eknoor Singh and Tanvir Singh have bagged the first position and were awarded gold medals, while the second position was grabbed by Barjinder Singh, Prabhnoor Singh, and Vikramjeet Singh. Remaining sixteen students received the bronze medals. The students of open academies and CBSE schools from Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan participated in this competition.
Drama certificate exam
Steady Steps, Themes Gabriel International, an initiative by Avon Cycles Ltd, to bring world-class education and universal courses for the children, conducted its first ‘Trinity College London Communication Skillls, Speech and Drama and Young Performers Certificate’ examination. George Logan from Ireland came to assess the children. Aarav Dadu, a student of Class III of Satpaul Mittal School, Jaisveen Dhawan (Class III ) of Delhi Public School and Vea Goyal of Class II studying in Sacred Heart Convent School scored distinction. Speech and drama classes for different age groups are conducted once a week by trained teachers and are thoroughly enjoyed by the kids. The objective of these classes is to develop and refine communication skills, stage skills, leadership skills, removing stage fright and focusing on verbal and non-verbal skills. TNS
Sarv Dharam Sammelan
Sahnewal: Sacred Heart School Convent, Sahnewal, held a Sarv Dharam Sammelan and invited religious ambassadors of different communities including Fr. Felix Parish Priest, Khanna; Pandit Prahlad; Mohd. Iqbal and Bhai Jagtar Singh, head Granthi, Gurdwara Reru Sahib. Vishavjeet Singh Sidhu, Naib Tehsildar, Sahnewal-cum-Executive Magistrate presided over the function. Harkamal Kaur Gill, ACP Sahnewal, was the guest of honour. Councillor Captain Sukhjeet Singh Hara was also present. The function commenced with ‘Prabhu Vandana’. After this, Bible reading was done from the Old and New Testament. It was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest and dignitaries. Tiny tots presented a Christmas dance, Christmas wishing song, entailed by bhangra and giddha. All luminaries of different religions spoke on the occasion and greeted people. They stressed on the importance of living in unity. They emphasised that all religions were merely different paths to God. OC
