Ludhiana:  Guru Hargobind Public Senior Secondary School, Sidhwan Khurd, organised 'Punjabi Fest'. In all, 203 students from 26 schools of the Ludhiana Sahodaya School Complex (West) participated in creative writing, calligraphy and poster-making contests. The school was decorated with symbols of the Punjabi culture and students were dressed up in traditional dresses. Students performed various cultural activities on stage.

Fancy-dress competition

A fancy-dress competition was organised at Blossoms Convent School, Jagraon, to make the students aware about the environmental problems. Principal Amarjit Kaur appreciated the hard work of students.

Declamation contest at OPBM

The OPBM School organised inter-house Hindi declamation and Punjabi debate on the school premises. It was organised with an aim to promote proficiency thoughts among students. The topics of declamation were 'Yuva warg par media ka parbhav', 'Santulit aahar, svasthya ka Aadhar. For Punjabi debate the topics were 'Ajoki sarkar loka diya jeba khali karan nu firdi hai' and 'Technology Labhdaik Ja Hanikark'. Students not only showcased their allocation skills but also made their points emphatically and presented themselves against one another with cogent and convincing arguments on the topic of immense relevance to the present generation.

IT presentation by LKG kids

Children of grade LKG of Jesus' Sacred Heart School exhibited their oratory skills during an IT presentation 'On famous places in India'. The programme started with song in praise of lord followed by the presentation on different cities. They also elaborated their content in explaining the famous places and what they are famous for.

Health check-up camp

A free health check-up camp was conducted for the students of the pre-primary wing of Sant Ishar Singh Ji Memorial Public School. In all, 95 students got their eye, dental and skin checked. Nidhi Sharma from Sant Ishar Singh Ji Memorial Hospital (Rara Sahib) and Dr Chandeep Kaur from Jain Hospital (Khanna) and their team mates conducted the camp efficiently.

Independence Week at BVM

Realising the vision of 'New India' and honouring the 70th anniversary of the independence of the country Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Kitchlu Nagar, celebrated the Independence Week. On this occasion all pledged to share their endeavours for the peace and prosperity of nation. Maximum number of students actively participated in a quiz competition based on freedom struggle. Display of paintings in the school corridors brought back the times of Independence Movement and harbouring radiant hopes for the bright future of the nation.

Students honoured at KVM

It was a special day for the KVM students who performed well in CBSE exams 2016-17. Those students were honoured who scored up to 95 per cent in Class XII and those who got 10 CGPA in Class X were honoured at the school. Ashwini Kumar, Manager, School Managing Committee, was the chief guest for the occasion. He was accorded a formal welcome.  

'Sadbhawana Diwas' observed

Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, observed 'Sadbhavana Diwas' as 73rd birth anniversary of ex-prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, who treated and enchanted with his fraternity. School acknowledged the students with his life history through a power point presentation depicting about his life time achievements as person and as a political legendary and the speeches delivered by the students postulating his life, achievements and ideology. The IT sector is the gift of his far-sightedness, teachers at the school said. The day was also celebrated as 'Akshay Urja Diwas' to mark his contributions in the upliftment of the country.

Cricket tournament concludes

The final match of the under-19 Ludhiana Sahodaya School (East) Cricket Tournament was held at Planet E Senior Secondary School. Teams from Green Grove School, Mohanpur, Lala Sarkaru Mal School, Khanna, Chhagan Lal Jain School, Khanna, Tagore International School, Sahnewal, had qualified for the semi-finals. In the final match, Lala Sarkaru Mal faced Tagore International School. The winner was Tagore International School, Sahnewal. School Principal Suman Arora congratulated the team and awarded them with medals and certificates. — TNS
