Ludhiana, August 2
The silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over Muzaffarpur shelter home rapes is intriguing, said the All-India Students Federation (AISF) during a rally in the city.
“For the past several years, children and young girls had been raped and murdered in this shelter home as per the reports coming out now. But it is shameful that neither the Centre nor the state government have come out forcefully against this. This raises skepticism about the culprits being sheltered by the governments,” they alleged.
“These incidents have exposed both the governments. We demand exemplary punishment to the culprits and judicial inquiry into the whole events,” said Deepak Kumar, secretary; and Sultana Malik, president of the Ludhiana unit.
They called upon the students to come forward against such social ills which have increased manifold in the past four years since this government came to power. They said because of the policies of the Modi government, the education has gone beyond common man’s reach and job opportunities have come down drastically. The slogan of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ had become another jumla, they said.
