PAU, PU teams script victories

Ludhiana, October 23
Hosts Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, along with Panjab University, Chandigarh, scripted two victories each on the second day of the North Zone Inter-Varsity Handball Championship for Men being held at the PAU campus grounds here today.
In their inaugural match, PAU, Ludhiana, defeated Jammu University, Jammu, 26-10, and later proved their supremacy against MRSUPT University, Bathinda, whom they outnumbered 35-12.
Panjab University, Chandigarh, that won their opening match easily against Ch Charan Singh University, Meerut, yesterday, continued with its winning spree, wrapping up both ties.
They faced a little resistance from Guru Jambheshwar University of Sciences and Technology, Hisar, before coming out triumphant 35-24. However, in the second encounter, they proved too good for Lucknow University whom they outperformed 30-18.
The match played between Lucknow University and Dr Manohar Lohia Awadh University, Faizabad, turned out to be a well-contested affair, in which eventually the former romped home victorious by a narrow margin 25-22.
In another encounter, CRS University, Jind, stunned Guru Arjan Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences (GADVASU), Ludhiana, 29-15, to register their second win.
Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, beat CBL University, Bhiwani, 26-19; Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar drubbed DAV University, Jalandhar 22-5; MRSPT University, Bathinda got the better of Hemwati Nanndan Bahuguna University, Garhwal (Uttrakhand) 35-25; Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla trounced Ch Devi Lal University, Sirsa 23-9; Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar outclassed CRS University, Jind25-15 and Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak outnumbered Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla 35-17.
