PCTE holds workshops on retail and IT for school students

The Punjab College of Technical Education (PCTE) Group of Institutes organised training workshops on retail and information technology for the students of Satya Bharati School. Students visited the campus and explored the pharmacy labs, kitchens of hotel management, workshops of engineering, Indian Angeethi managed by the students of hotel management, bakery and language labs of the institute.
A session on IT workshop was held for students, which was conducted by Heena Kalra, Assistant Professor at the faculty of computer applications. She discussed about various aspects of an effective power point presentation and taught students how to make one. She also gave them tips and tricks to become an effective speaker.
Another workshop on retail was conducted by Gautam Bansal, director, PCTE, along with Amitej Singh and Amit Sethi, assistant professors at the faculty of business management. They explained the Indian retail sector, trending business environment and types of store retailers.
Harpreet Kang, dean of international affairs, interacted with students and guided them about career opportunities. She extensively talked about how the Indian government had initially started with simple traditional universities but for the last two decades, technical universities had been established in most states of the country. She said only technical universities could provide education in all job-oriented modern technical courses. such as engineering, IT, biotechnology, pharmacy, robotics, and automation. —TNS
