Prof Mohan Singh Int’l Fest ends

The 40th chapter of the Prof Mohan Singh International Cultural Festival concluded at Govind National College at Narangwal village near here on Sunday.
The event was dedicated to the founder of the Prof Mohan Singh Foundation, former legislator Jagdev Singh Jassowal and former principal of the host college late Hardiljit Singh Gosal.
The event was inaugurated by local MP Ravneet Singh Bittu and Cabinet Minister of Cooperatives and Jails, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.
Artistes from India and abroad enthralled the audience by presenting songs, ‘kavishari’, ‘vaar’, gidda, bhangra, Malwai gidda, dhadi and orchestra.
Appreciating the efforts of the organisers in reviving the elements of art and culture of the border state, Ravneet Bittu and Sukhjinder Randhawa said these elements worked as supertonic for the development of human beings.
Pargat Singh Grewal, president of the foundation, said, “It is only due to the efforts and enthusiasm of Jagdev Singh Jassowal that a number of world-famous artistes and singers were promoted by the foundation in the past decades,” he said.
Those felicitated during the function included environmentalist Sant Saba Sewa Singh Khadoor Sahib; entrepreneur and former legislator Jasbir Singh Jassie Khangura; DIG Gurpreet Singh Toor; Kahan Singh Pannu, Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration; former DIG Harinder Chahal; educationist Charanjit Singh Channi and sportsman Tejinder Pal Toor.
