Mock elections held
Ludhiana: To create awareness among students regarding the election process, the social science faculty of Police DAV Public School, Police Line, Civil Lines, had organised a week-long activity of mock election, which culminated on Wednesday. Four parties, namely ‘Unatti Party’ whose symbol was a charkha, ‘Swachh Party’ with tree as their symbol, ‘Adarsh Party’ whose symbol was a rose and ‘Juganatar Party’ with computer as their symbol, were formed. Four students of Class VII were mock candidates of the parties formed. They campaigned on the school campus to attract student voters. The students cast their votes through an electronic voting machine hand- crafted by Anish Ali, a student of Class IX. Besides, a few students were also made news reporters who gave a wide coverage to the election process. Principal Dr Anu Verma lauded the efforts of the teachers and the students in organising this elaborated activity. She also highlighted the importance of democracy and the right to vote.
Annual prize distribution ceremony
Atam Devki Niketan, Kidwai Nagar, organised annual prize distribution ceremony for the session 2018-19 to acknowledge the achievers of Class X and XII who had scored brilliantly in the CBSE borad exams. The ceremony began with an invocation of blessings of God. The achievers of Class I to IX were also felicitated with awards and certificates for their hard work and dedication. School president Nand Kumar Jain, congratulated all the achievers, parents and staff for the excellent results for the session 2018-19. The programme ended with an enthusiastic performance of bhangra.
Investiture held
0MGM Public School held its investiture on Wednesday. The programme began with Saraswati Vandna and lamp lighting. Kamalpreet Kaur and Kiratjot Singh were elected head girl and head boy, respectively. Tavneet Kaur ,Varun Trehar, Tanrneet Kaur and Tushar Kaushik were elected house captains, while Aashish, Aisha, Gursharan and Rashi were elected vice-captains. The director of school, Gajjan Singh Thind, and the principal, Poonam Sharma, presented sashes and badges to the student council. The student council took an oath to live up to the responsibilities assigned to them.
Lecture on cancer
RadhaVatika Senior Secondary School, Khanna, organised a guest lecture on cancer by Ashwani Kumar, director of the Human Alliance Foundation. He made the students aware about the harmful effects of chewing tobacco and doing drugs. —TNS
