Ludhiana, January 3

Days after the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation demolished an alleged illegal structure at Bhadaur House, the Youth Akali Dal leaders slammed the Congress and MC officials for targeting a selected building. The demolished structure belonged to brother of the Shiromani Akali Dal’s youth wing leader Gurdeep Singh Gosha.

The MC brought down the building a day after SAD’s youth wing leaders, including Gurdeep Singh Gosha and Meetpal Dugri, defaced the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Gosha, who came out on bail yesterday, blamed the MC and Congress leaders and accused them of demolishing the building owned by his family members. Gosha said the building’s map was approved.

“It is an example of vendetta politics. We blackened the statue of Rajiv Gandhi. What was the fault of my brother? Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to local level Congress leaders played dirty politics. The MC officials worked on the instruction of the Congress leaders,” said Gosha.

He said, “They even demolished a portion of adjacent building which is owned by a non-political person. Hundreds of illegal constructions are on the way between the MC office and demolished building. The civic body spared other illegal buildings and took action against my brother’s building. Officials followed pick and choose policy. We will take a legal action against them for harassing and demolishing my brother’s building.”

According to the MC’s building branch, upper stories of Gosha’s brother’s building were illegal.

It is pertinent to mention that the MC building branch officials reached Bhadaur House on December 26 and demolished the building. Sources said the drive was carried out on the instructions of a Senior Congress leader.
