Ludhiana, October 17

Four girls of DAV Public School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar branch, have been selected to take part in the Punjab State Schools Cricket Championship scheduled to be held at Hoshiarpur.

These students namely Harshika Dhammi, Jessica Dua, Yashika Thapar and Nivedita Ghai attended the selected trials conducted by the Punjab Education Department a fortnight ago at Guru Nanak Public School, Birmi village in this district, and performed well to be selected in the Ludhiana team.

Harshika and Jessica, both students of Class VIII, were selected as fast medium bowlers while Yashika, a student of Class IX, got the selectors’ nod as wicket keeper-batswoman. Nivedita has been selected as middle order batswoman. The Ludhiana team was announced yesterday.

Jaswinder Kaur Sidhu, principal of the school, congratulated the students on their selection and wished them and their coach, Amandeep Singh good luck in the state championship. — OC
