DAV, BRS Nagar, girls finish as runners-up

The girl students of DAV Public School, Bhai Randhir Singh (BRS) Nagar branch, performed well to finish as first runners-up in the DAV Cluster Judo Tournament (U-17) held at Jalandhar.
A large number of students, representing different branches of DAV School, vied for top honours in this tournament and those from the local BRS Nagar branch proved their mettle, winning five gold medals in nine weight categories in addition to three silver medals.
For this outstanding performance, DAV Public School, BRS Nagar branch, Ludhiana, finished as first runners-up. The students who represented DAV School, Ludhiana, and helped their team winning medals include Urvi, Aarushi Singh, Samridhi Kaushal, Namita Sharma, Mouli Bhardwaj, Sachi Goyal, Mahika and Ritika.
Urvi and Aarushi clinched gold medals in the below 36-kg and below 40-kg categories, respectively, while Samridhi Kaushal bagged top honours in the below 44-kg section.
Similarly, Mouli Bhardwaj annexed gold medal in the below 52-kg group and Ritika won gold medal in the below 70-kg category.
The silver medal winners were Namita Sharma (below 48-kg), Sachi Goyal (below 57-kg) and Mahika (below 63-kg).
All these eight girls have been selected to take part in the DAV State Judo Championship scheduled to be held in Amritsar next month.
