Ludhiana: Garden Valley International School, Machhiwara, organised the annual function amid great enthusiasm, vibrancy and elation on the school campus. The theme was ‘Garden Valley’s Got Talent’. Through dance performance and songs the students displayed their different talents. The programme began with a divine invocation of lamp lighting ceremony and was followed by vibrant performances by the students. Principal Harpreet Kaur Taneja presented their annual report in function and shared all achievements of the school in session 2016-17. Through different performances, students shared a message that we must embrace the cultures of nation and overcome all the narrow prejudices and should be a responsible citizen.

GMT Int’l Public School

The school hosted its fifth annual day at Payal with a lot of enthusiasm and zeal. Principal Amarjit Dhaliwal presented the annual report highlighting the achievements of the school and students. She also highlighted the growth and vision of the school. This thematic show of talent, imagination and organisation was the essence of the evening. Meritorious winners of quest- interschool quiz competition and achievers of the GMT were felicitated with trophies. The programme ended by a vote of thanks by the anchors.

Sacred Heart, Sahnewal

The school celebrated its annual day celebrations on Monday amidst great zest and Joy. The evening witnessed a spectacular collection of multicultural, entertaining and thought-provoking stage performance by the students. The grand event was based on the theme ‘Challenges of Changes’. Principal accorded a warm welcome to the guests. The function commenced with the lighting of the lamp by dignitaries. Among the variety cultural programmes Rajasthani Dance, Kerala beats, Egyptian dance - Isis Wing, dance drama on environmental issues, western steps, classical rhythm, Kathak, mime, and the choreography on Challenges of Changes” were the highlights of the event. The students enthralled everyone with skit in English ‘Love in Action’ emphasising the true meaning of Christmas. The achievements of the year 2016-2017 were highlighted by the students in the annual report.

Cultural extravaganza

As many as 1,200 students of the BCM Arya Model Sr Sec. School, Shastri Nagar, showcased the talent in a three-day cultural extravaganza ‘Sustain for Life’ under the ‘International School Award’ 2017-18. The cheerful students projected the importance of switching over to sustainable development with particular emphasis on sustainable growth of power and energy resources, environment, heritage sites and our planet Earth through various skits, songs, dances, mimes and nukkad natak (street play) thereby pledging their role as responsible future citizens. The programme culminated with the National Anthem.

Classroom management workshop

A one-day workshop on classroom management was organised for teachers at DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road. Around 90 teachers attended the workshop to acquaint themselves about the latest trends in making the teaching learning process more effective in the classrooms. The resource persons stressed on the understanding the psychology of the students. They also suggested many effective strategies and tests to deal with the routine and complex problems of the students. Kaplish emphasised on the conduct management, covenant management and developing classrooms rules and procedures. She guided the teachers on devising effective classroom plans. Seema in the parallel session for primary teachers discussed the components of the classroom management, creating physical and congenial environment, time management and different classroom styles.

Students perform

Athletes of Guru Nanak Public School, Mullanpur, participated in Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex (West) Athletic Championship held at St Kabir Academy, Talwandi (2017-18) and performed well. Students made their mark in several sporting events including shot put, relay race, 200m, 600m, discus throw, 100m, 800 m, long jump, race in different age group categories. — TNS
