Love Prajapati worked at the Amazon store which was then housed in MDB Mall as a cashier. He had quit the job about nine months ago.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime, Gaganajit Singh conducted a press conference on the matter.

He said a former employee was the mastermind of the robbery. As he worked in Amazon as a cashier, he was aware that the company kept cash in the safe lying in the office room every night. He hatched a robbery plan with his friends.

The DCP said on the night of July 20, the accused reached the godown on three motorcycles. After stealing the safe, Hampreet brought his car and kept it in the vehicle. They later broke open the safe and distributed cash among them. “After committing the robbery, all accused went to Delhi where they spent some money on luxuries. Still, four accused are evading arrest and the police teams are making efforts to trace them,” said the DCP.

Notably, while stealing the safe containing Rs 12 lakh, the robbers had also injured the guard of the Amazon store and tied him with rope. The police reportedly caught up with the robbers with the help of phone dump record of their mobile phones.
