30-gm smack recovered
SAMRALA: The Samrala police claimed to have arrested three persons and recovered 30-gm smack from them. The accused have been identified as Charanjit Singh of Kamal Colony Khanna; Pavitar Singh of Paroudi village and Jaswinder Singh of Shamshpur village. As per the information, a police party was on checking at High Tech Naka Neelon. During checking, the police signalled a white coloured Swift Dzire car to stop. The driver tried to reverse but the car stopped. During search, the police recovered 30-gm smack from them. As per SHO Samrala Bhupinder Singh a case under the NDPS Act was registered against the accused and they were presented in court, from where they were sent in 14 days’ judicial custody. OC
Wood worth Rs 12 lakh seized
Khanna: The Machhiwara police claimed to have arrested a person and recovered Khair wood worth Rs 12 lakh from him. The accused has been identified as Surinder Singh of Chikna village in Roopnagar district. SSP Khanna NS Mahal said a police party laid a naka at the main chowk in Machhiwara, when they received a tip-off about a person going in his truck with stolen Khair wood. The police signalled him to stop the truck. During checking, the police recovered a huge quantity of Khair wood from the truck. As per the SSP, the value of the recovered wood could be around Rs 12 lakh in the market. A case under Section 379/411 of the IPC was registered against the accused and he was arrested. He was presented in a court, from where he was sent in police remand for a day. SHO Machhiwara said the driver had brought the wood from Garhshankar area and was to deliver it in Kurali, but was arrested. OC
Illegal liquor recovered
Khanna: The Machhiwara police recovered 266 cartons of illegal liquor from one Ram Partap, a resident of Mundian Kalan. The police signalled a Tata Tempu 407 to stop and during search recovered 266 cartoons of illegal liquor from the vehicle. In another recovery, the police recovered 95 cartons of illegal liquor from a small Tempo. However, the driver managed to flee. Cases under the Excise Act were registered and further probe was on. OC
