Lt Gen Ajai Singh on Tuesday took over the charge of Chetak Corps from Lt Gen Raj Shukla, who proceeds on posting to the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence. Lt Gen Ajai Singh is the 30th General Officer Commanding of the Chetak Corps.

A fifth generation Armoured Corps Officer with continuous family service since 13 September 1858, he is an alumni of Lawrence School Sanawar and the National Defence Academy. He was commissioned in December 1983 into 81 Armoured Regiment – a Regiment raised by his late father — with the Parachute Regiment silver medal for physical fitness and General Bhagat Medal for being adjudged best in small arms firing.

Upon taking over command of the prestigious Chetak Corps, Lt Gen Ajai Singh paid homage to the martyrs of the Corps in a solemn wreath laying at the Chetak War Memorial. Thereafter, he extended his greetings to all ranks, Veer Naris, veterans and families of the Corps.
