Man with the magic lamp
What prompted you to take up
this role?
Playing Aladdin is an opportunity for me to showcase my talent through the character of Aladdin. For me, it is something very interesting and new. Everyone knows Aladdin around the world!
What was your first reaction when you got this role?
When I was informed that I have been offered Aladdin’s role, I was very happy. I was like — ‘Wow, Aladdin! My fantasy - magic, genie, lamp — all of it will be true’. As a performer, I was very happy and excited.
What excites you the most about the show?
It is different from other shows. The action in this show is quite different from the rest. The way I will perform the action sequences will be such that it all looks natural, just like Hollywood movies. Whatever action sequences are there; I perform them myself. The best thing is it is a modern show — there are some contemporary dialogues as well.
How is Avneet, who is playing the warrior princess?
She is a talented actress. When she does her scenes with me, she listens to everything I say and follows it diligently. She has a very bright future in the industry. The bonding between us is really good. We understand each other, on screen as well as off screen. She fits the role perfectly. She is my very good friend. I am happy that I am doing this show with her.
So, if genie of the lamp asks for your three wishes, what will those be?
My first wish will be that my show does well. My second wish will be that people living in India should remain safe without any problem. And the third wish will be that everyone remains happy forever.
You’ve done movies and television — what is more exciting?
Both are exciting. I would love to do shows and films.
At this young age, you have a great physique. What’s the mantra?
Eat healthy food.
