Vikas Verma, who has been a part of TV shows such as Jhansi Ki Rani, Hatim and Chandragupta Maurya, will soon be seen playing the antagonist in David Dhawan’s remake of Coolie No. 1. He talks about life, career, his role in the film and more. Read on:

How do you see your professional journey?

Well, from winning India’s Fashion Star 2009 to getting a role in David sir’s film, it’s been a roller coaster ride. That pageant was for looks, walk and personality but for films, I had to prove my capability to get bigger roles.

How did you get Coolie No 1?

David sir called me in March and told he got a part in the film he was making. I had no idea it was for CoolieNo 1 and then finally, it’s happening now.

What kind of preparation have you done for this role?

I had to beef up as David sir wanted me to look bigger and sharper for the role. I play a baddie and it looks good when a big guy gets beaten up (laughs).

What is your take on remakes?

Well, I love remakes as it refreshes the memory. But this is not a proper remake. It’s a different storyline with more masala.

What kind of roles do you want to play?

I want to try different roles but as per my personality I get rich and bratish roles. I am getting to live my dream life

Did you face any casting couch type situation?

I have been lucky enough that I haven’t gone to any couches where they cast!
